Teachers day in India.. :)

It is rightly said that "Teaching is a profession which teaches all other professions".Therefore there has to be a day to honour these super individuals namely, teachers!!
Teachers day is celebrated all over the world to mark the contribution of teachers in developing individuals. On this day teachers contribution is appreciated by honouring them with gifts and arranging special activities for them. The World teachers day falls on October 5th every year. However,in India we celebrate teachers day on the Birthday [5th September] of Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan-an educationalist and second President of India.
On this day,the regular activities in school are replaced by celebrations and activities to express gratitude to teachers. In some schools the senior students dress up like teachers and do mock teaching.Programmes such as Skits,Role-plays,Debates,Elocutions and traditional forms of Dances are also organised. Gifts and other honours are felicitated to teachers. Some schools may also organise Lunch Buffets and fests. Sweets are distributed among children. All in all a festive atmosphere prevails in the schools throughout the day.
There are also special programs organised by government institutions and Ngo's to teach underprivileged children. This year, the current president of India Pranab Mukherjee has planned to teach for one day in one of Delhi school's. source: ndtv india
To fulfil the purpose of this day,we need to introspect and realise the importance of teachers and the impact they leave on our life and give them their due respect and thank them for everything.
